Kurashiki / Okayama

31st August, 2007

Steve, Marie, Lauren and I went to a small cute town called Kurashiki which has an old style section. There was a canal which ran through the town and was beautiful. We spent the afternoon strolling through the town and checking out some of the most amazing pottery shops that I have seen.

We saw a temple and had a wonder through.

We were lucky enough to see a boat on the canal where everyone was wearing a bamboo hat. It looked truly Japanese.

We then went to Okayama so that we could check out the gardens at night which are meant to be amazing. Well that’s exactly what they were - amazing. Everything was lit up and the gardens looked spectacular. I was very impressed. We spent just over an hour in there strolling around taking in the magnificent scenery. It was beautiful. It was the last night for the lights so I am glad that I was able to see it.

My favourite garden in Japan is the Korakuen Gardens in Okayama purely because of the spectacular night view it has when it is all lit up with candles and colourful lights. It was so beautiful!

This garden was amazing - day or night! It was also cool to see Kurashiki - somewhere new!
